rambling post, beware!!!!

haha! my last name is post, so its got a double meaning. i'm such a dork, i love my new last name..........

"so, um, it seems like you're getting tired of all this cleaning..........."

yeah, ya think? observation of my hubby this morning. wanting to let me know that he'd help with whatever. but i think it was the perfect way to discribe what i've been up to. cleaning! constantly busy busy busy busy. i now know what its like to be the mother in a family of 6....
so, i'm glad that holidays are over. but the craziness isn't yet over for me. i have about a week left............ i'm lucky that i was able to even sit down to do this update! then MY computer is all funky so i have to get on steves, but it means that i can't put up any pictures : ( and i have a bunch that i wanted to share! hopefully my computer will stop being stupid and i'll be able to share them soon
but i let you know what i've been up to
my brothers arrived on sat. the 17th so its been crazy ever since. keeping me busy, etc. then my parents arrived on the 22nd. the 23rd we all went to the nutcracker. steve's whole family and my whole family. we had a really really really good dinner before hand, my dad and i shared a kobe steak- so bomb. and then the nutcracker was great! i've been going since i was 5, i know the whole thing by heart, and i love every minute! the sd one was good, but it can't compare to the san fransico ballet i grew up on.
the 24th we went to steve's parents house for xmas eve dinner, and we did a "white elephant" gift exchange. it was good times. just silliness, which i love. i don't even remember what i ended up with, but someone got a john deere shovel, someone else got a paint balling mask, and someone else a nose hair trimmer. it was funny.
then it was christmas! i got a lot of great things, i wasn't expecting at all! and i made breakfast- eggs benedict, with the help of my mom. kinda messed up on the sauce and we had to remake it . whoops. eggs benedict is a family tradition, and mmmmmmm, i love me some eggs benedict!
then i hosted my first christmas dinner- for 12 people!!!!! i made ham (already baked, just had to warm it up) garlic mashed potatoes (my speciallity) and green beans, and of course my kick ass salad. kinda undercooked the green beans, but no one complained. did another gift exchange with his family, and then i just vegged out after doing allllll the dishes. i was exhausted!
the 26th our 2 families went to the beach house, one of my fav resturants in cardiff by the sea, and sat outside and ate yummy food and watched the HUGE waves. very cool. then that night my cousins son, austin came to stay with us for a few days. he's on winter break, and his mom needed day care- and i'm like-dude, have him visit me! it was fun. he's 7 years old, and such a sweet heart. though addicted to his new psp video thingy. i'm SO not ok with video games!!!!! but it was cool, one day we took him for a hike and found ducks and frogs in a near by pond, played football in the park, then went and saw chronicles of narnia. such a good movie!
the next day we took him bowling, bumper bowling baby! love those bumpers. then i took him back up to his parents house
oh! and i forgot. on tuesday night we went to a friends houes for a PINK elephant exchange party. i just like to call it pink, cause yeah. dont' know why. it was going to be at our house, but cause austin was there we did it at another friends house. (my parents and brothers were at the house with austin, don't worry! i didn't just ditch him) that party was hysterical! you're not suppposed to spend more than $5 on a gift, and if you find it around your house, even better. needless to say the gifts get pretty creative ; )
ok, then thursday was the holiday bowl. a post family tradition for the past 7 years. i've gone once, was supposed ot have gone twice but i got lost- a whole nother story! but its fun. we tailgate and pig out first, then root for whoever. this year i was going for oregon- go ducks! but they lost : (
yeah, not done yet. see why i'm so exhausted?
friday some really good family friends came to visit who haven't seen our house yet. we had them over for lunch, then went down to their hotel that night in san diego and went out to dinner with them.
then saturday was new years eve!!!!!!!!!!!! so i was cooking and cleaning all day to get ready for this party. we were going to have like 6 people for dinner, then all the sudden that went up to 11- hey, i need to know in advance people! then like 3 of them didn't show up till later! grrrrr. so that was crazy. i made a pasta i had never made before, long story, so i was stresed, but it turned out fine. so we had dinner, then more people came over- i think we had a total of 18? and we drank and ate and danced and partied all night! it was a good time. new years eve is my favorite holiday of the "holiday season" dress up cute and drink? sounds good to me! but, my camera broke. my other one. and that one is only a year old! i don't know whats wrong with it. grrrrrrr. hopefullyl we can get it fixed for cheap, or otherwise i won't be able to take any pictures!
but wahtever, new years was a good time, but of course it was huge mess that took me 2 days to clean.............
anyways, thats my novel for now. hopefully i'll be able to post pictures later. and so y'all know, the craziness isn't over yet. my family is still here for another week or so, and we're going to tahoe to ski in 2 days, so i'll be MIA again!
